About Bulldog Beat
Bulldog Beat is Tennessee Wesleyan University’s student-run news and media platform, produced through COM290: Topics in Online News Production. Led by Professors JJ Hulet and Ashley Copeland, the publication operates as a working newsroom where students create, edit, and publish original content.
The platform is fully student-driven, with faculty serving as final editors while students take the lead on reporting, writing, editing, and digital production. Content created for Bulldog Beat is both graded and published, giving students real-world experience with accountability and audience impact.
Bulldog Beat serves as a central source for campus news and storytelling, highlighting the voices, events, and experiences that shape the TWU community.

Bulldog Beat is always looking for new voices, fresh story ideas, and students interested in gaining hands-on experience in journalism and digital media.
Students can get involved by enrolling in COM290 or connecting with the team to contribute as a writer, photographer, or multimedia creator. Whether you are interested in covering campus events, highlighting local businesses, or producing digital content, Bulldog Beat provides an opportunity to develop real-world skills in a collaborative newsroom environment.
Community members and students are also encouraged to share story ideas. If there is something happening on campus or in the Athens community that deserves attention, the Bulldog Beat team wants to hear about it.
